the good with the bad

BAD: rude comments about fashion blogging. will they ever stop getting under my skin?
GOOD: the other 98% of people i meet through blogging, ladies who are kind and hilarious and uplifting and wonderful. also, blogging friends who get it and don't look at me like i'm crazy for being involved in this online world.

ETA:

BAD: a boring pilates workout.
GOOD: ditching it and starting a really fun kickboxing one.

BAD: getting the house tidied, brownies out of the oven, and a cute outfit on just in time for david to get home...only to have joony do a huge, nasty spit up all over me/the living room floor.
GOOD: the fact that all of the above (minus the spit up) happened in the first place.

BAD: a very persistent little boy grunting in my face and grabbing my nose at the crack of dawn (okay, 7:30) after a sleepless night.
GOOD: having all the stuff to make delicious sourdough french toast and said little boy being a giggly goofball baby with applesauce dripping off his chin.

  1. I adore the simplicity of the outfit but how you made it look pulled together with the scarf! Great colors too :)

  2. If you're referring to the comment I made on Chrislovesjulia.com yesterday, I said it because I WANT her to do a fashion blog every once in awhile. While fashion blogging isn't my thang, I do think its pretty awesome when you girls can get up in front of the camera and look fabulous. I kick it in my sweats 6 days a week. I wish I had more motivation to get dressed up everyday like you do. I'm sorry if you took offense (obviously you did). My comment to Julia was in no way bashing fashion bloggers.

    1. Meagan-yikes. I was referring to a combination of a BUNCH of different things, definitely wasn't that worked up by one little thing said in a comment forum! Julia is a rock star and could pull of any kind of blog post for sure. And I'm sure you'd never bash fashion bloggers :) No hard feelings.

  3. I love your scarf! I've been thinking adding a little bit of fashion would be fun to add to my blog but I'm way too nervous. I guess I just have to realize you don't have to look perfect to put up an outfit post. :) love your blog and am now finally starting to comment after being a closet follower for a long time haha!

    1. Kelsey, you should! It IS so much fun, and you will be blown away by how positive the response will be--even on days when it feels a bit silly to post an outfit ;) Good luck!

  4. Appreciate this post.

Fashion blogging is great. And mean commenters and snotty bloggers are not. I appreciate your simple style and the fact that you dont spend $500 on your outfits for posts. Makes fashion real.

I also love that you do kick boxing.

    1. Deidre, the kickboxing helps with the rage I feel at catty/rude/snarky people ;) And thank you!! I WISH I had $500 for an outfit...but alas, the only thing I have $500 for is rent haha. Maybe someday!

  5. I have so much respect for you as a fashion blogger, especially since I added a "Fashion Friday" feature to my blog and am realizing a) I am not very photogenic and b) I have boring style. :) You are great, and I love your blog!

  6. I just realized that I'm a blogging friend who gets it! Woo-Hoo! I don't know if I could ever do fashion posts due to my complete lack of expertise ("Brandilyn, please dress me") but my 17 month old daughter is a fashion blogger so I have respect haha!
